STATEMENT

My work emerges from the desire to tell new stories through what endures: inherited objects, images, and family narratives that awakened in me the need to bring them to life from the present. In my practice, the real and the imaginary coexist within the same space, where elements from other times become intimate and the everyday acquires an unexpected, fantastic, and almost mythical aura.

A longing for the past runs throughout my work. Tropical atmospheres, familiar objects, and recurring symbols reappear as living fragments, open to new interpretations.

Memory is the territory in which my practice unfolds. I work with personal and inherited reminiscences, with the stories that have shaped my way of seeing the world. Between the European and the tropical, between family history and daily life, I gradually develop a language that blends cultures, aesthetics, and temporalities. The act of remembering, far from being a fixed record, becomes a space for rewriting and reinvention.

My personal archives—photographs, travel journals, collections of objects, and found images—serve as raw material for constructing imaginary worlds. Through them, I translate distant eras into my own time, tropicalize them through the stories that precede me, and experiment with fiction. These works are assemblages of life: small maps that propose new ways of narrating and inhabiting images.

Mi trabajo nace del deseo de contar nuevas historias a partir de aquello que permanece: objetos heredados, imágenes y relatos familiares que despertaron en mí la necesidad de darles vida desde el presente. En mi obra, lo real y lo imaginario conviven en un mismo espacio, donde lo que viene de otras épocas se vuelve cercano y lo cotidiano adquiere un aura inesperada, fantástica y casi mítica.

El anhelo por el pasado es una fuerza que atraviesa mi obra. Atmósferas tropicales, objetos familiares y símbolos reaparecen como fragmentos vivos ,abiertos a nuevas interpretaciones. El recuerdo es el territorio donde se despliega mi práctica. Trabajo con reminiscencias propias y heredadas, con los relatos que han moldeado mi manera de ver el mundo. Entre lo europeo y lo tropical, entre la historia familiar y mi cotidianidad, voy encontrando un lenguaje que mezcla culturas, estéticas y temporalidades. La capacidad de recordar, lejos de ser un registro fijo, se vuelve un espacio para reescribir y reinventar.

Mis archivos personales —fotografías, diarios de viaje, colecciones de objetos, imágenes encontradas— funcionan como materia prima para construir mundos imaginarios. A través de ellos traduzco épocas lejanas a mi tiempo, tropicalizo a partir de las historias que me preceden y experimento con la ficción. Estas piezas son ensamblajes de vida, pequeños mapas que proponen nuevas formas de narrar y de habitar las imágenes.
